Stephanie and John’s wedding day was the epitome of timeless romance, inspired by the elegance of a Victorian autumn. Set at the stunning Reading Farms Estate, the day was a masterpiece of rich fall hues, vintage charm, and heartfelt moments that felt straight out of a storybook.
Before departing to the ceremony at Our Lady of the Snows Church, Stephanie’s father, a lifelong enthusiast of vintage cars, surprised the couple with a scenic ride through the picturesque village of Woodstock Vt. As they cruised along winding roads lined with golden leaves and historic homes, Stephanie and John enjoyed a few cherished moments of quiet reflection, soaking in the beauty of the day and the excitement of their new journey together.
After the ceremony, the newlyweds and family took a whimsical detour, walking hand in hand through the charming streets of Woodstock. They paused to share a scoop of creamy maple ice cream at "Woodstock Scoops", a nod to Vermont’s sweetest tradition. The moment was pure magic, as passersby offered warm congratulations, and the village seemed to glow with the joy of the season.
The celebration continued back at Reading Farms Estate. Where On Thyme Events and Boom & Bloom had curated an unforgettable open air reception.
The reception design captured the beauty of Vermont’s autumn season with an earthy yet sophisticated aesthetic. The mahogany farm tables and mahogany chairs mirrored nature’s autumnal hues, creating a rustic yet refined foundation. Golden rose silverware added a touch of elegance, complementing the natural textures while catching the soft glow of candlelight. Centerpieces featured the gentle softness of snapdragons and hydrangeas, artfully combined with the rich, dark maroon and burgundy tones of Lies Bleeding Amaranth for depth and drama. Small pumpkins in warm, natural tones added a seasonal pop of color, while rustic cattails brought a hint of the countryside, tying the design to the Vermont landscape. Anchoring each table, a Dusty Blue velvety soft table runner draped gracefully across the dark wood, its rich hue serving as a celestial counterpart to the grounded earthy tones. Monochromatic napkins in the same serene blue completed the look, creating a cohesive and harmonious tablescape that perfectly blended rustic charm with timeless elegance.
Stephanie and John treated their guests to a true taste of New England, beginning with passed hors d’oeuvres of classic lobster rolls and savory meatball sliders. For the reception dinner, Chef Richard from On Thyme Events curated a farm to table dining experience that highlighted the season’s finest ingredients. The meal began with a fresh seasonal salad, followed by a choice of perfectly cooked filet mignon drizzled with a rich bourbon reduction, or tender white cod glazed with a delicate miso reduction. Accompanying the entrées were a medley of seasonal vegetables and golden roasted potatoes, creating a warm and flavorful menu that captured the essence of Vermont’s autumn harvest. To finish on a sweet note, guests enjoyed freshly baked apple cider donuts and an assortment of homemade cookies, served alongside rich, homemade Vermont maple ice cream.
As the evening festivities concluded, guests departed with a sweet Vermont memento, an elegant maple leaf glass jar featuring local Vermont maple syrup. What a sweet souvenir!
